Day 17: Smart Enough to Keep Learning
This largely unedited free-write is linking up with the Write 31 Days Challenge. // indicates the start and stop of five minutes. The prompt word for today is STUDY. Go!

// I love the quote that says,
“Educating yourself does not mean that you were stupid in the first place; it means that you are intelligent enough to know that there is plenty left to learn.” ~ Melanie Joy
My friends, just because you are tired, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t learn SOMETHING. Studying and learning is what keeps you fresh and inspired. Believe me, there is nothing inspiring about cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Those chores NEVER end, and they rarely satisfy (although there is something beautiful about a freshly folded closet).
But the point is… We MUST keep learning! We MUST keep studying!
Why?
- Because it’s good for us―it keeps us young!
- Because our kids like it when we learn―it makes them proud of us!
- Because it inspires them to also learn!
- And “Just Because I Said So!” (This is a month dedicated to Mom Advice, after all.)
So, TODAY WAS A BIG DAY FOR ME! I didn’t really tell many people, but today I wrote my
Grade 8 RockSchools Vocal Exam
(that’s why I’ve been so absent lately, and why yesterday’s post just got published an hour ago)
I’ve wanted to do it forever but was either too busy or too scared to try. This year, with Raelynne leaving for school, and me deciding that I needed to “GET A LIFE,” I finally went for it!
Yes, it was flippin’ hard, and I worked my butt off to get to this place, but IT’S DONE! And regardless of the outcome, let me tell you…
I FEEL SOOOOO PROUD OF MYSELF!
To make the day even more special, I shared the accomplishment with Rachel who wrote her Grade 3 Vocal Exam and David who wrote his Grade 3 Electric Guitar Exam! How special is that?!
Here’s a picture that was taken of us just after our exams…
Actually, I FEEL SOOOO PROUD OF ALL OF US
Bucket List: “Finish Grade 8 RockSchools Vocals exam”…. CHECK! ♥
Now, to sleep.
