Day 2 - Good Morning, Gorgeous

Day 2 – Good Morning, Gorgeous! (Speak Life)

Day 2 - Good Morning, Gorgeous

//  She woke with a start, the sound of the alarm slicing through the silence like fingernails on chalkboard. How could it be morning ALREADY?

The restlessness of the past six hours showed in the dark circles under her eyes. Tossing, turning, and praying desperately for relief from her racing thoughts. Too much to think about, too much to do. The snoring coming from beside her was a cruel reminder that she wasn’t sleeping… again.

She desperately wanted to collapse on her pillow and let unconsciousness take over… but she couldn’t!

Sit up! Shake off the sleepiness. She had work to do, deadlines to meet, responsibilities to take care of. There’s no time for slumber today.

After dragging herself from under the warm blankets and stubbing her toe on the corner of the bed, she staggered into the bathroom. This exhausted woman who looked like she had just run a marathon and then been hit by a truck,

Happy Women’s Day – Quietly Confident

Women's Day

HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY!

Ahhhhh, I love public holidays. I love the joy of turning off the alarm clock and snuggling back under the covers. Warm, cozy. No appointments, no responsibilities. In my opinion, ANY holiday is a good holiday.

One of the challenges of living overseas is not having a built-in consciousness of that particular nation’s public holidays. You looooong for holidays when there aren’t any, and you get irritated when the stores are closed because you didn’t realize it was a holiday. It’s actually quite ridiculous.

So, today I decided to change things up a bit. Besides enjoying a “lekker long lie-in” (loosely translated “deliciously long sleep”), I decided to look up the reason and rationale for today’s holiday. Here’s what I learned… Read more

Worthy: Not Even Oprah Can You Make You Feel This Good

//  I wandered around the room feeling a bit like Oprah. Microphone in hand, and looking for the first volunteer to speak.

But the room was quiet, so quiet. Was anyone listening? Had I communicated clearly? God, You need to do this.”

The mood was set, the message delivered. I knew that Holy Spirit was working deep things into the hearts and souls of these precious women.

But it was so quiet.

I felt Father say, “Shhhhh, just wait.”

So I walked. And prayed. I could hear sniffles and quiet weeping.

“Father, speak to Your girls. They need to hear what You say about them. Erase the lies. Speak truth.”

The lights were dimmed, soft music coming from the keyboard, and Holy Spirit was working.

Don’t rush. Old labels were being removed, and new identities were being spoken.

Then one hand went up. What she said was like refreshing rain to a dry ground and unlocked a wave of hope throughout the room.     Read more
