Day 1 Unforced Rhythms - worship

Day 1 – Let’s Start at the Very Beginning (Worship)

Day 1 Unforced Rhythms - worship

Can you see the scene in your mind’s eye?

“Let’s start at the very beginning

A very good place to start

When you read, you begin with ABC

When you sing, you begin with Do Re Mi…”

Oh, that takes me back. Who else LOVED that movie? When I was a little girl, I so badly wanted to be Maria—not the nun part but the care-free soul with the killer voice!

I remember singing for hours, “the hiiiiils are aliiiive with the South of Muuuuuusic…aaah-aaah-ah-aaaaaahhhh” and driving my brother nuts! Haha, awesome!

My friends, when it comes to walking in the UNFORCED RHYTHMS OF GRACE, there are some absolutes that we must establish. Long before we hyperventilate and burnout, long before we start cutting stuff out of our busy lives, it’s crucial that we “start at the very beginning.”

Five Minute Friday - Sing More

Last weekend, while I should’ve been writing about SINGing, Erwin and I were actually leading worship at the Church of the Nations International Conference, and this is one of the songs that has been ringing through my mind ever since then.

May it inspire you to also sing regardless of your circumstances and emotions today. (Go ahead, sing the highlighted phrase as you’re reading!) ENJOY! 🙂

On those days when everything goes wrong…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

On the days when you feel confident…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

On the days when you feel insecure…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

On the days when you feel loved…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

On the days when you feeling so alone…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

On the days when you simply have MORE on your plate than you know what to do with…

Then sings my sou-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oul.

Regardless of how you feel today, or the random thoughts that are filling your mind, the truth is that HE LOVES YOU!

Fearlessly | Relentlessly | Limitlessly | MORE than you can ask or imagine

And that’s a good enough reason to SING! //

Every Friday, I join an inspiring group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES on a one-word prompt. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE.

Two weeks ago, the prompt word was SING and this week the prompt word was MORE!

Today, I decided to combine them both and write on SING MORE!  Enjoy!

// indicates the start and stop of the timer.

7 Ways to Bring God into your Kid Chaos

// “We know that we should be spending more time with God each day, but our biggest problem is finding time in the middle of the kids and busyness and noise.

“Do you have any advice that worked for you?”

Such a sincere question, spoken in a roomful of beautiful mommies who were gathered for a morning of companionship, encouragement, and community. Moms who are dedicated to staying connected with each other in this season of babies and toddlers.

You know that verse that says “the older women should teach the younger women”? Well, I’m not sure I like the label of ‘older woman,’ but I knew I was incredibly privileged to be invited into this intimate setting to share my experience and wisdom.

I thought for a moment. My mind started replaying those early years of having four kids under the age of 6.

I remembered the noise, the mess, the desperation for quiet…

“My friends, there are actually two needs here. There is a desperate need for quiet, and there is a desperate need for God. Both are equally important for mental and spiritual health, but they are not the same thing.    Read more
