“Ok, guys. Go! You’ve only got 8 seconds to catch your reader’s attention. Write!”
The room was a mix of expression… some faces furrowed in concentration, desperate to finish their thoughts before the five-minute timer ran out. Some showed panic, realizing that original ideas were lacking and ‘imagination muscles’ were out of shape. And then there were those who looked like deer in headlights—“What are we doing?”
The fury of scratching pens and pencils followed for the next five minutes. You could almost hear the wheels turning and smoke rising.
Creativity! Beautiful, glorious creativity!
Get out of your box. Break free from of the practical. Dream. Stretch those muscles. Force yourself to think bigger, brighter, bolder.

Ahhhhh, I love public holidays. I love the joy of turning off the alarm clock and snuggling back under the covers. Warm, cozy. No appointments, no responsibilities. In my opinion, ANY holiday is a good holiday.
One of the challenges of living overseas is not having a built-in consciousness of that particular nation’s public holidays. I mean, I’ve lived most of my life in Canada, and I can tell you EXACTLY when the public holidays will be. In fact, I’m quite certain that my body clock resets itself by those dates… Family Day, Spring Break, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August long weekend, Labour Day weekend, Thanksgiving, and finally Christmas. I ♥ it!
But what happens when you move to another country and lose that internal holiday clock? You become “royally” MESSED UP, that’s what.
As I’ve been getting feedback from my readers on my upcoming book, “Finding the Proverbs 31 Woman in the Middle of Kid Chaos,” I’m realizing afresh just how important and timely this whole discussion is about IDENTITY.
Living according to what God says about us and not what we feel or think about ourselves.
I’ve been ‘chewing’ on this topic for a number of years now, and I NEVER seem to run out of things to learn. Why?
