This Same Power Lives In You
// “I’m afraid I might have postpartum depression… incapable of managing my life… impossible just to take care of myself… I sometimes wonder if my brain works… emotionally, I’m a mess… so dry, feel empty.”
These are words spoken this week from a precious young mommy who is utterly exhausted and desperately trying to keep it together. A cry for help in a place of great emptiness.
How many of us can relate?
I know I can. I remember seasons in my life where sleep deprivation and absolute exhaustion made me feel as though I was losing my mind. I get it.
But it’s not just baby-season that causes these familiar feelings.
- How about moving houses, or moving countries?
- How about losing your job, or facing financial ruin?
- How about disease or death in the family, or trauma of any kind, really?
Such is the nature of life. We ALL go through times that will sap our strength, empty our spirits, and bring us to the end of ourselves.
It’s in those times that this verse rings loudly in my mind…
“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is LIVING IN YOU, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give LIFE TO YOUR MORTAL BODIES because of His Spirit who lives in you” (Romans 8:11 NIV).
It’s Easter weekend, and we naturally think about how Jesus died to save us. But He didn’t just die for the salvation of our souls. He died and rose again for the complete healing and deliverance of our WHOLE BEING (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, psychologically, relationally, etc.)
My friends, you who are beyond tired today, know this…
This same power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead dwells in your mortal body! Click To TweetThank You, God! //
- There is no shame in being tired. (He died and rose again so we could receive His strength.
- There is no shame in being depressed. (His sacrifice allows us to trade our sorrows for His joy.)
- There is no shame in being empty. (The tomb is empty so that we don’t have to be.)
Use what little energy you have today to simply
BREATHE a prayer to the Father,
RECEIVE the Holy Spirit again into your weakness, and
WORSHIP Jesus for making a way for you where there seems to be no way!
You, my friend, are highly favoured of the Lord.
Just breathe and let Him fill you again!

Nope, no shame at all. Honesty is the first step to healing and wholeness.
Love you, my friend. ❤️

I’m so glad, Lesley! Praying strength and courage for you my friend.
I am so thankful for His presence when I feel alone. So thankful for His healing power. Visiting from #6 this week.
I’m so glad to have you visiting today, Barbie. I agree. I’m so grateful for His presence and His power.
I love how encouraging you are to all around you. You embody life, empathy, virtue, perspective and peace as you kindly guide all who ask towards a greater hope. Thank you for your words and the sharing of your soul. xx
Wow, Emma. Thank you for such a precious compliment. I receive that.
You have been on my mind all week. Praying for you as this little one makes his/her arrival. I LOVED your post this weekend on ’empty.’ You took me right back to my final days with each pregnancy. Praying strength, safety, and success on all of you, my friend! Can’t wait to hear your good news!
Great words! I can relate, any kind of Transition can send you in some form of depression, and there’s no shame in dealing with it.
And congrats on the book! Lots of strength for the launch, may you have lots of good connections!
I like how your prefaced your words of fullness with “there is no shame”. Those are freeing words, Shauna. Words made complete through Christ.
